Tangled is Manchester's longest-running club night and an institution... probably in more ways than one. Running continuously since 1993, we have hosted parties and DJed in clubs all over the city in that time, such as The Phoenix, The Boardwalk, UMIST Club Underground, The Music Box, The Attic, Joshua Brooks, Sankey's Soap, Aqua Bar and many more (some long forgotten!) venues.
Tangled is based around its resident DJs, who always start and finish the night. The main room hosts house, trance and techno, while the breakbeat room (established in 1997) is the longest running breaks night in the country and quite probably the world.
First and foremost, Tangled is about music. Tangled's resident DJs are also its promoters. Our aim is to further quality house music, simply by playing the records we love, and by booking the DJs and artists whose music we play. We aim to provide a quality clubbing experience freed from the shackles of corporate nonsense.
Following the departure of Tangled founder Phil Morse in early 2006, Mike Burgess took up position as Operations Manager, working closely alongside Terry Pointon, Steve Thorpe and Doug Rascal, to make up the legendary team that is behind the success of the last 14 years of Tangled.
By interacting with our clubbers week in, week out, month in, month out, we can genuinely claim to have our feet on the ground and our ear to the street. We think it shows. Tangled is proud to have been voted Club of the Year by both the Manchester Evening News newspaper and City Life magazine in recent years.
